This directive outlines the groundwater monitoring requirements to address the phenomenon of constituents being released from surrounding sediments into groundwater due to the heating associated with the thermal in situ operations. The directive was developed to ensure that appropriate monitoring and management occurs through the development and implementation of site-specific project assessments and groundwater monitoring programs for all thermal in situ operations.
