Description

Economic multipliers are used to assess the impacts on the economy of an exogenous change in final demand or output of a given industry. Based on the Input-Output (I/O) tables released by Statistics Canada, they provide a measure of the interdependence between an industry and the rest of the economy. Multipliers for the Alberta economy have been developed using the Alberta Treasury Board and Finance Input-Output (I/O) model. Impacts are estimated in terms of total output, gross domestic product, employment and labour income. There are two main types of economic multipliers provided in the dataset: 1) Open model (direct and indirect impacts), and 2) Closed model (direct, indirect and induced impacts). Starting with the 2008 publication, a supplemental set of multipliers was added to the dataset: under a Closed model with a “Safety Net”, these additional multipliers incorporate the assumption that new jobs were filled by people previously receiving employment insurance, effectively...

(StatCan Product) This information product has been customized to present information on detailed average household expenditures for age of reference person less than 65 years old for Canada and provinces in 2013.   Unlike families, households may be comprised of individuals who are not related either through blood, marriage or children as in the case of either an economic family (related by blood, married/common law or adoption) or census families (married/common law with or without children and lone parents). For instance, a household may be comprised of two individuals, not related, who share a common dwelling.   The Survey of Household Spending is carried out annually across Canada in the ten provinces. Data for the territories are available for 1998, 1999 and every second year thereafter. (StatCan Product) This information product has been customized to present information from the Canadian Centre for Justice Statistics with reference year 2014. The spreadsheet details census subdivision (CSD) to respondent code mapping in Alberta. Please note that it is not suggested to derive crime statistics by CSD with the use of the concordance tables. For example, if a respondent code contains three CSDs, the client cannot simply divide the crime by three. The only time that would be possible is when a one-to-one mapping occurs, that is, when a respondent code maps directly to a CSD, and is the only CSD within that respondent code boundary.

All households are ranked from lowest to highest according to the value of their before-tax income. The ranked population is then divided into five groups of equal numbers of units, called quintiles. Annual income boundaries are available upon request from Client Services.
