Description

To protect consumers and enhance public confidence in insurance, the Alberta Superintendent of Insurance monitors, investigates and takes appropriate regulatory action when there is non-compliance with the Insurance Act and Regulations. Regulatory action includes administrative penalties, cease and desist orders, compliance undertakings and court prosecutions. In all cases involving regulatory action, there will be public notification on the Government of Alberta website at http://insurance.alberta.ca/bulletins. This document contains enforcement activities undertaken by the Alberta Superintendent of Insurance and is updated to add new information as necessary.

Effective the beginning of day on April 1, 2024, Alberta’s fuel tax rate is increasing from $0.09 per litre to $0.13 per litre. The rate increase applies to clear gasoline and diesel, ethanol, ethanol blended gasoline, biodiesel, blended diesel, methanol and condensate used to generate power in an internal combustion or turbine engine. The effective rate of fuel tax applicable to marked gasoline and diesel, after applying the tax-exempt consumer exemption, will be $0.04 per litre.
