Forest company forest management plans (FMPs) detail when, where and how timber on Alberta Crown land will be managed in order to balance social, economic and environmental needs based on input from the public, Indigenous peoples and interest groups. The forest management planning area under consideration is FMA 9900037. The FMP covers Forest Management Unit G15 located in west central Alberta within the Upper Peace Land-Use Framework planning region; it falls within the Subalpine, Upper Foothills, Lower Foothills and Central Mixedwood and Dry Mixedwood Natural Subregions.

The details of where, when and how trees on Crown land in Alberta are harvested and managed for sustainability are contained in forest management plans approved by the Government of Alberta, with input from the public and other stakeholders. Forest management plans prepared by industry are a requirement of Forest Management Agreements (FMA) negotiated between the Government of Alberta and forest companies. Forest management plans provide direction for sustainable management of forest resources. FMA 9100029 is allocated to Alberta-Pacific Forest Industries Inc. and consists of 11 forest management units (FMU) A16, L1, L2, L3, L8, L11, S11, S14, S18, S22, and S23. The FMA area is located in northeastern Alberta and falls predominantly within the Central Mixedwood, Upper and Lower Boreal Highlands, and Athabasca Plain natural sub-regions.

Forest company forest management plans (FMPs) detail when, where and how timber on Alberta Crown land will be managed in order to balance social, economic and environmental needs based on input from the public, Indigenous peoples and interest groups. The forest management planning area under consideration is FMA 0100038. The FMP includes the Forest Management Agreement and non-FMA portion of FMU B12, collectively known as the Defined Forest Area (DFA). The DFA is located in southern Alberta primarily within the South Saskatchewan Land-Use Framework planning region. There are approximately two and a half townships of the northern tip of FMU B12 within the North Saskatchewan Land-Use Framework planning region and approximately five sections scattered along the east side of FMU B12 that fall within the Red Deer Land-Use Framework planning region. The DFA falls within the Alpine, Subalpine, Montane, Upper Foothills and Lower Foothills Natural Subregions.

The Government of Alberta, through the Department of Agriculture and Forestry (AF), regulates forest management on the Crown Land of Alberta. Reforestation in Alberta is the responsibility, by law, of those who harvest trees on Crown Land. Companies that harvest trees are required to report the result of their reforestation activities to the government annually (by May 15). Reforestation activities and their associated results are audited annually by AF and this information is used to ensure that forestry activities are conducted in a sustainable manner and in compliance with legislation.
