Ministers' office expenses are disclosed to the public on a monthly basis, posted by the end of the following month. Expenses reported are those of the ministers, their executive assistants and their administrative support staff, and are reported in the following categories: meals, accommodation and travel; hospitality and working sessions; and goods, supplies and services.

Description

The set of statistics in these datasets describe the Full Load Equivalent (FLE) by each institution and academic year within Alberta's publicly funded post-secondary education system. FLE is a measure used to allow for comparable calculations across different institutions, across different programs. The FLE is measured by taking the load of the learner enrolled (instructional hours + practicum hours) and dividing by the full load of that program. This results in a comparable metric to be able to use across the system. The FLE calculation is consistent for every institution and program. The data tables presented are related to enrolments in approved programs at publicly funded post-secondary institutions within Alberta. Separate data files exist focusing on the system level, or for subsets that focus on either international or self-identified Indigenous learners.

This policy manual aims to provide policy guidance to Advanced Education staff, educational institutions, students and other stakeholders regarding the Foundational Learning Assistance program. The program provides full-time and part-time opportunities for low-income Albertans, who are unemployed or working less than 20 hours per week, to participate in programs of study that increase knowledge and develop skills to prepare them for further education, training, and/or sustainable employment. The Program replaces the Learner Income Support program and the Skills Investment Bursary program.

Under the Post-Secondary Learning Act, the boards of all public post-secondary institutions and independent academic institutions must enter into an investment management agreement with the Minister of Advanced Education. These agreements must include the mandate of the institution, performance metrics for the institution, and anything else determined by the Minister. The agreements are the primary accountability instrument of a performance-based funding model for Alberta's post-secondary system and incentivize institutions to work collectively to achieve the goals of Alberta 2030. This record contains all signed investment management agreements for the period 2022-2025.

Each year, the Government of China provides a number of scholarships enabling residents of Alberta to study in China. Alberta high school graduates, post-secondary students and scholars wishing to participate in Chinese language studies, academic study at the undergraduate or graduate level, or research are all eligible. The language of instruction is primarily Chinese, but a limited number of programs are offered in English. The program may also sponsor and recommend remedial Chinese language studies for applicants who are not applying for the Chinese language study program.
