The statistics include numbers of registered apprentices, technical training attendance and credentials issued. Current data is presented with historical data to illustrate trends over time.

The final report from the Research Commercialization Working Group (RCWG) was developed by experts from academia and industry, together with government. The RCWG’s mandate was to deliver on Goal 3 of Alberta 2030: Support Innovation and Commercialization, and provide input to the Alberta Technology and Innovation Strategy. Recommended action items within the report include: coordinating government funding on RCWG priority research sectors; developing an intellectual property (IP) framework that aligns IP policies, raises awareness of IP, and creates collaboration/hand-off opportunities to industry; and convening ecosystem players regularly and often to enhance research partnership potential. Between 2004 and 2014, Alberta’s international merchandise exports rose 91% to a record $121.4 billion. By comparison, exports from the rest of Canada rose only 15% over the same period. Although higher prices and volumes of crude oil exports were the main drivers of Alberta’s export growth, the manufacturing sector and especially the agricultural sector also made sizeable contributions to overall export growth.
