This report presents and analyses the results of a recreation use and experience survey conducted from July to September 2020 at key staging areas in the Elbow Valley, focusing on users of the Moose Mountain and West Bragg Creek trail networks. The purpose of the study was to better understand the distribution, use and experience of visitors at the popular recreation areas in the Elbow Valley.

The goals of the Pygmy Whitefish Recovery Plan are to maintain existing populations and to reduce the risk of population loss caused by threats such as accidental spills.

Annual surveys for mountain goats have been conducted in the Willmore Wilderness Park and adjacent areas since 1974, to collect data on population trends, distribution and herd composition, and to monitor the status of these mountain goat herds. The objectives of this survey were to assess the status of mountain goat populations in the three hunted complexes in Willmore Wilderness Park. An additional complex was also assessed to inform general population trends. Aerial surveys are the primary method used to assess the population size, distribution, population trends and herd composition of ungulates in Alberta. This information supports the effective management and conservation of ungulates, and is used to set hunting licence allocations, identify areas with agricultural depredation problems, and determine priority areas for recovery actions.
