Description

The intent of this document is to identify those areas of the Municipal Government Act relating to petitions to council, and to supplement and explain the petitioning requirements. Topics covered include: What constitutes a petition within the context of this document and the Act, the protection of personal information in petitions, who may petition, what can be petitioned, the number of petitioners required, other general requirements, the role of a petition witness, determining whether a petition is sufficient, and council’s response to a sufficient petition.
