Aboriginal Consultation Levy Repeal Act

Description

The Government of Alberta’s Policy on Consultation with First Nations on Land and Natural Resource Management, 2013 (Policy) committed the Government of Alberta to enhance the consultation capacity of First Nations through a consultation levy on industry. Feedback received during the implementation of ACLA revealed that many parties had significant concerns with ACLA. In light of these concerns, the Government of Alberta introduced legislation to repeal ACLA on May 3, 2016 and the repeal was passed by the legislature on May 27, 2016
