Last month, the Alberta Open Government team attended this years\u2019 Canadian Open Data Summit (CODS) hosted by the City of Edmonton at the Chateau Lacombe. Every year, CODS addresses the most pressing challenges facing the open data and open government communities. This year the themes were: Open Data and Analytics; Open Data Partnerships; and Crowdsourcing.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Service Alberta, the Honourable Stephanie McLean, and His Worship, Edmonton Mayor Don Iveson, provided opening remarks for the summit.<\/p>\n

Mark Diner, Chief Advisor of the Alberta Open Government Program, presented on Proactive Disclosure: Extending beyond Open Data to Open Information<\/em>. Mark also participated in panels throughout the summit. Chief Data Officer, Farooq Khan, participated in a panel discussion entitled Data Collaboratives as Enablers of Social Innovation<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The Government of Alberta was honored to win the 2017 Open Data Innovation Award<\/strong> at the Summit for our work to make Alberta laws <\/a>accessible via the Open Government Portal<\/a>.<\/p>\n
