Usage Considerations
Data continuity
- In 2013-14, Innovation and Advanced Education introduced a new reporting application. This resulted in some data conversions and updated full-time/part-time calculations. As a result of these changes, the data in the above table may not align with previous data pulls.
- In the summer of 2019, Alberta adopted a new Alberta Credential Framework (ACF) as related to program attributes. As such, some values/attributes in this file may not align with subsequent releases of this information. For more information on the ACF, see this link: https://open.alberta.ca/publications/alberta-credential-framework
- In 2018, following a review of the Roles and Mandates Policy Framework, the names of some of the six sectors were updated. As a result of these changes, the data in the above table may not align to subsequent data pulls. Additional information can be found online here: https://open.alberta.ca/dataset/cf437f7d-e822-470f-9d9d-35a218f345e6/resource/07b9ff83-5a59-4b2f-837c-bb69da0ea6f1/download/roles-and-mandates-policy-framework-for-albertas-adult-learning-system.pdf
Additional usage notes
- The Banff Centre does not offer Certificate, Degree or Diploma programs. As a result, no data for the Banff Centre is listed in the above table.
- Program Completions include Completions in Certificate, Degree and Diploma programs only.
- As the Journeyman Program Type is a Certificate credential, students completing their final instructional portion in their apprenticeship program are included in the values above (even though they have not received their apprenticeship certification).
- Academic years are related to each individual institution, and generally run from May through April or July through June. The data is submitted at the end of each academic year, and then requires a rigorous review and sign off, meaning there is a time lag of approximately one year before data is updated. For example, the 2013-14 academic year enrolments are first submitted in July/August of 2014, and the system data would not be released until all submissions are finalized. This translates to the 2013-14 academic year typically being ready for use by December 2014 at the earliest.
- Some Credential and Program Type combinations were first offered in later years, and therefore the first year with completers for these combinations may not be until well after 2004-05 (eg. Certificate Post-Diploma)
