Insect pests periodically cause extensive and severe defoliation of aspen in Alberta. Many species of insects defoliate aspen trees in the province, including the forest tent caterpillar, the large aspen tortrix, and the Bruce spanworm. This purpose of this brochure is to provide the general public with information about aspen defoliators, how to recognize signs of their presence and the damage caused by the insects. Includes photos to help identification.

Soapweeds (commonly known as yucca) and yucca moths have an obligate mutual relationship such that neither species can survive without the other. This plan provides background information on both species, describes the threats facing both, outlines proposed strategies to address these threats, and presents an action plan that lists priority actions required to maintain and recover the two species.
