Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park (Áísínai’pi in the Blackfoot language) is globally recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site containing Indigenous rock art (petroglyphs and pictographs), significant landforms and archeological sites. This management plan guides sustainable use of the park, supporting outdoor recreation opportunities, Indigenous land uses and cultural experiences.

Description

The Evan-Thomas Provincial Recreation Area Management Plan provides a long-term vision and day-to-day guidance for stewardship of this protected area. The plan outlines the type and extent of outdoor recreation and tourism opportunities, facilities and services including the delivery of heritage appreciation programs that assist Albertans and visitors to understand and appreciate our natural heritage while ensuring its ongoing preservation. The plan was prepared with extensive public input and will be reviewed and revised periodically. The Minister responsible for parks and protected areas has authorized the implementation of the management plan and retains the authority to amend or interpret its provisions.
