Off-highway vehicle users are required to obtain a current copy of the brochure and have it with them. Also includes information on individual public land use zones in the Bighorn Backcountry.

Plans and frameworks (provincial) are labelled black within the map. Transboundary water quantity agreements (inter-provincial, federal, international) are labelled blue. The Surface Water Allocation Directive would not apply to areas of the province covered by a water management plan or framework that provides water guidance.

Trail designation is by ministerial order which can designate trails under the Trails Act and establish them as provincial trails under the Public Lands Act. Trails that are being considered for potential designation may also be listed in the order. Within the orders are the maps of where trail designation are located and description of the boundary.

This georeferenced map shows the boundaries of the Wabasca Bison Protection Area in northern Alberta. Wood bison located within specified Wildlife Management Units (WMUs) are listed as Threatened under the Wildlife Act and Regulation, including the Wabasca population. The Wabasca Bison Protection Area provides additional protection from all hunting (by both Indigenous and non-Indigenous people) to avoid extirpation of this small population of wood bison. This map can be viewed with a standard PDF viewer, but contains additional interactive enhancements that can only be accessed through specific reader apps. A detailed description of the Wabasca Bison Protection Area boundaries can be found within Schedule 11 of the Wildlife Regulation.

This georeferenced map shows the boundaries of the Northwest Bison Protection Area in northern Alberta. Wood bison located within specified Wildlife Management Units (WMUs) are listed as Threatened under the Wildlife Act and Regulation, including the Hay-Zama and Etthithun Lake populations. In order to support the conservation, management and recovery of disease-free bison in northern Alberta, all hunting of wood bison within Northwest Bison Protection Area is regulated and based on issuance of a bison special licence and allocation processes for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous persons. This map can be viewed with a standard PDF viewer, but contains additional interactive enhancements that can only be accessed through specific reader apps.
