Description

The primary purpose of this pilot project was to investigate the technical feasibility of tertiary oil recovery by injecting CO2 in zones of the Swan Hills Formation whereby the previous hydrocarbon miscible solvent injection had limited success. A pilot demonstrating that additional oil may be recovered from previously "hydrocarbon solvent" flooded areas would increase ultimate oil recovery in the province. The use of CO2 as the miscible agent would also result in the permanent sequestration of significant volumes of carbon dioxide.
