Percentage of students that achieve high school completion status within three to five years of starting Grade 10. High school completion status is defined as receiving an Alberta High School Diploma, High School equivalency Diploma (GED), Certificate of High School Achievement or continuing on to post-secondary education such as Apprenticeship without receiving any of the above.

Over the past three years, government has undertaken several province-wide engagement initiatives -- Inspiring Education, Inspiring Action, Speak Out and Setting the Direction, to help shape Alberta's vision for education. Each of these initiatives has contributed to the ongoing renewal of Alberta's education system and influenced the proposed new education legislation. The proposed Act is designed to enable the transformation of Alberta's education system by providing a foundation and expectations for educational excellence. Albertans were invited to participate in the process by expressing their views in community meetings, in writing, or through social media (see consultation methods below). All of the thoughts and suggestions Albertans provided are being considered during the drafting of new legislation to govern Alberta?s education system, which will be introduced in the Legislature in spring 2012.
